There are a lot of workers out there that do not appreciate actually being told what they can and cannot have on their desks and I happen to agree with the,. So as a big boss what can you do??
One of the things that happens here is that questions are asked, do they like the desk space they currently have, if not why and then you make a few changes. If someone is really struggling when it comes to using an old keyboard then you aren’t being fair by not getting them a new one! You need to make regular checks to see if that old serviced offices that your people are working in is actually any good. All of the equipment in the office does need to be looked into often and changed when you can afford it.
On top of this make sure you let the workers customise the desks. If at the moment you are not even allowing them to be bringing in their own cups from home to drink from then you know you really are taking things way too far. Make sure you let them at least make a few changes to the area that they work in as it gives them the feeling that the desk is personal and they will work to a better standard.
